Regular Season Round 16: Iwate Big Bulls - Shinshu BW 79-84

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Iwate Big Bulls (11-4) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Shinshu BW (10-5) 84-79. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-20. But Iwate Big Bulls won second period 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Shinshu BW won last quarter 23-20. It was a great shooting night for Shinshu BW especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Edward Morris (205-84, college: Pittsburg St.) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) who added 9 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side forward Lawrence Blackledge (206-86, college: Marquette, agency: Top Notch Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and center Dillion Sneed (203-84, college: E.Tenn.St., agency: Top Notch Sports) scored 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Four Iwate Big Bulls players scored in double figures. Shinshu BW have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Niigata Albirex. Iwate Big Bulls at the other side still keep top position with four games lost. Shinshu BW will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Iwate Big Bulls will play again at home against Shinshu BW in Nagano and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
