Regular Season Round 13: Ferrara - Latina Basket 66-83

There was a small surprise when sixteenth ranked Latina Basket (4-8) won against on the road 14th ranked Naturhouse Ferrara (4-8) 83-66 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Latina Basket. Naturhouse Ferrara was better in fourth quarter 23-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Latina Basket made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Naturhouse Ferrara turnovers. Quite impressive performance for naturalized Serbian forward Marko Micevic (198-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. The former international guard Riccardo Santolamazza (195-83) contributed with 11 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Latina Basket's coach Mattia Ferrari allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Power forward Michele Benfatto (205-85) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and guard Michele Ferri (191-85) added 16 points in the effort for Naturhouse Ferrara. Latina Basket moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Naturhouse Ferrara. Latina Basket will face higher ranked Chieti (#11) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
