Regular Season Round 6: Bakersfield J. - Santa Cruz W. 102-95

Date: December 3, 2012
The Bakersfield Jam improved to 3-1 on the season with a 102-95 win over the Santa Cruz Warriors. John Jenkins and Mike Scott were assigned to Bakersfield on Saturday which gave them about a day to get acclimated with the team before Monday's game. Both players spent the first half feeling their way through it. Neither was overly impressive defensively but both did have their moments. Jenkins caught fire in the second half and finished with a game-high 22 points on 8-13 shooting. He is 1-2 from beyond-the-arc and hit all five of his free throw attempts. Jenkins also finished with three rebounds, three assists, two steals and two turnovers in 29 minutes of playing time. Scott struggled to find a rhythm at either end of the floor but came up with a pair of key steals in the fourth quarter. He finished with seven points on 3-8 shooting. Scott pulled in two rebounds and had two steals to go along with three turnovers. Two of his three field goals came on dunks. Kendall Marshall gave the Jam a trio of NBA players on assignment and helped close out the Warriors with 21 points and eight assists. Renaldo Major added 12 points and four blocked shots while Brian Butch finished with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Former University of Georgia standout Travis Leslie led Santa Cruz with 21 points and 14 boards. Bakersfield wins despite being out rebounded by a 54-38 margin. The Warriors out shot the Jam 44 percent to 41 percent but committed 30 turnovers in the game. The Jam are back in action Tuesday night when they take on the Los Angeles Defenders. Tip off is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Courtesy of: peachtreehoops.com
