Regular Season Round 36: Sacramento K. - Toronto R. 107-100

Date: December 5, 2012
Kings 107, Raptors 100 With strong fourth quarter efforts from their two young cornerstone players, the Kings withstood a spectacular second-half by Kyle Lowry to end their three-game losing streak. DeMarcus Cousins posted team highs with 25 points and 13 rebounds. Tyreke Evans had 23 points, including back-to-back three pointers to give the Kings (5-12) a 101-95 lead in the fourth quarter. Cousins had seven points in the fourth quarter. Evans had 10 points in the fourth. Lowry finished with 34 points and 11 assists for Toronto (4-15). Lowry had 29 points and six assists in the second half. THIRD QUARTER Kings 76, Raptors 74 Kyle Lowry has taken over the game and Mickael Pietrus is right there with him. Now the Kings find themselves in a close game. Lowry has 20 points and 10 assists with 15 points and five assists coming in the third. Pietrus has 17 points as Toronto has overcome it’s poor shooting in the second quarter. DeMarcus Cousins has 18 points and eight rebounds for the Kings. Jason Thompson has 11 points and nine rebounds. But the Kings aren’t getting the play needed from Tyreke Evans and Marcus Thornton. Evans is shooting 4 of 12 and just 5 of 10 from the foul line for 13 points. Thornton has taken only four shots with one make. The Kings shot 6 of 17 in the third. HALFTIME Kings 55, Raptors 57 The Kings continued to shoot well while the Raptors cooled off considerably. Toronto shot 5 of 25 in the second quarter to fall behind. DeMarcus Cousins (14 points, five rebounds) and Jason Thompson (11 points, seven rebounds) have been too much on the frontline for the Raptors. The Kings have outscored Toronto 36-12 in the paint. The Kings also have 15 fast break points. It’s been a slow start for Tyreke Evans after missing two games with a bruised left knee. He’s missed made 2 of 8 shots for seven points. Mickael Pietrus has 11 points to lead Toronto. FIRST QUARTER Kings 29, Raptors 29 The game is moving at a face pace with both teams shooting well. DeMarcus Cousins had made 6 of 9 shots for 12 points to lead the Kings. Sacramento is shooting 52.2 percent (12 of 23). Toronto is shooting 13 of 26 (50 percent). Cousins has been defended by a rookie (Jonas Valanciunas) and Amir Johnson, who doesn't have the size to keep Cousins from his spots on the floor. It's the kind of frontline that could help Cousins find his game again. DeMar DeRozan has eight points to lead Toronto. Kyle Lowry has five assists. The Kings have already forced five turnovers. In their blowout loss last Saturday to the Los Angeles Clippers, the Kings forced five turnovers the entire game. Courtesy of: www.sacbee.com
