No shocking result in a game in Melbourne where fourth ranked Bulleen Boomers (7-6) smashed bottom-ranked West Coast Waves (2-12) 73-52. Bulleen Boomers made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 West Coast Waves turnovers. Strangely West Coast Waves outrebounded Bulleen Boomers 41-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for international swingman Tess Madgen (180-90) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Rebecca Allen (185-92) contributed with 11 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Melissa Marsh (209-85) replied with 9 points and 8 rebounds and center Natalie Burton (195-89, college: W.Virginia) added 8 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for West Coast Waves. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Bulleen Boomers maintains fourth position with 7-6 record. West Coast Waves lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 12 games lost. Bulleen Boomers will play against Sydney Uni Flames (#8) at home in the next round. West Coast Waves will play against Canberra Capitals and hope to get back on the winning track.
