Regular Season Round 8: STU Tbilisi - Batumi 60-84
Date: December 8, 2012
Bottom-ranked STU is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their seventh consecutive match to eighth ranked Batumi (3-5) 84-60 on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Batumi. STU managed to win fourth quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by the former international forward Lasha Keshelava (200-81) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds and guard Giorgi Nanitashvili (187-90) supported him with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Batumi players scored in double figures. Even 21 points by forward Irakli Dzidziguri (202-82) did not help to save the game for STU. Forward Giorgi Kvetenadze (201-90) added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Batumi moved-up to seventh place. STU at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Batumi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. STU's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Samedicino-Academia.
