Regular Season Round 10: Tochigi Brex - Hokkaido L. 67-90

Bottom-ranked Hokkaido L. managed to get a third victory on Sunday night. This time they outleveled seventh-ranked Tochigi Brex 90-67. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 23-point difference suggests that Hokkaido L. is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Tochigi Brex. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 23 points. Tochigi Brex was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American forward Joevan Catron (198-88, college: Oregon) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Tomokazu Abe (180-85) contributed with 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. International power forward Shunsuke Ito (204-79) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) added 15 points and 5 assists in the effort for Tochigi Brex. Tochigi Brex's coach Antanas Sireika gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Hokkaido L. maintains eighth position with 3-17 record. Loser Tochigi Brex keeps the seventh place with 15 games lost. Hokkaido L. will face higher ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (#6) in Nagoya in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
