Regular Season Round 14: Matera - Ferrara 68-77

Date: December 9, 2012
Leading Matera (10-3) recorded its third loss at the home court. Hosts were defeated by sixteenth ranked Naturhouse Ferrara (5-8) 77-68. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Matera. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Matera won third quarter 20-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Naturhouse Ferrara shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. Power forward Michele Benfatto (205-85) notched 13 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Gabriele Spizzichini (194-92) supported him with 14 points. Five Naturhouse Ferrara players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds by power forward Antonio Iannuzzi (207-91, agency: Two Points) did not help to save the game for Matera. The former international power forward Massimo Rezzano (203-82) added 20 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Naturhouse Ferrara moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Casalpusterlengo. Matera at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. Naturhouse Ferrara will play against higher ranked Agrigento (#4) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Matera will play against Casalpusterlengo and hopes to get back on the winning track.
