Important game to mention about took place in Gwynneville. Second ranked Wollongong Hawks (8-4) saved a 3-point victory at home edging second-ranked Perth Wildcats (8-4) 78-75 in the fight for the third place. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Perth Wildcats. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Wollongong Hawks made 25-of-33 charity shots (75.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Perth Wildcats turnovers. Strangely Perth Wildcats outrebounded Wollongong Hawks 43-24 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for guard Rhys Martin (193-86, college: Nova SE) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Lance Hurdle (188-87, college: Miami, FL) helped adding 18 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). American center Michael Dunigan (208-89, college: Oregon, agency: N.E.T.) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds and the other American import guard Kevin Lisch (188-86, college: St.Louis, agency: Warren Sports International) scored 17 points. Four Perth Wildcats players scored in double figures. Perth Wildcats' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Wollongong Hawks went down to third position due to points difference, which they share with Wildcats. Wollongong Hawks will play against Melbourne Tigers (#7) at home in the next round. Perth Wildcats will play against the league's second-placed Kings (#2) in Sydney and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
