Regular Season Round 19: Triobet - Perlas-MRU 79-108

We should mention about the upset which took place in Jonava, where higher ranked Triobet (11-8) was outleveled at home by twelfth ranked Perlas-MRU (9-10) 108-79 on Friday. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Triobet. The game without a history. Perlas-MRU led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Triobet's 42. Perlas-MRU looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for point guard Zydrunas Kelys (188-87) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 assists and 4 steals (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Forward Jonas Elvikis (195-82) helped adding 21 points. Four Perlas-MRU players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Martynas Linkevicius (197-85) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and forward Tomas Milinskas (202-90) scored 17 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Perlas-MRU moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Delikatesas. Triobet at the other side keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. They share it with Zalgiris-Sabonio. Perlas-MRU will meet at home league's leader Mazeikiai in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Triobet will play against Meresta (#9) in Pakruojis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
