Regular Season Round 13: Nevezis - Tarvas 87-76

The game between second ranked Estonian BC Rakvere (5-4) and fifth ranked Lithuanian Nevezis (4-6) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. BC Rakvere was defeated by Nevezis in Kedainiai 87-76. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of BC Rakvere. The game was mostly controlled by Nevezis. BC Rakvere managed to win third quarter 28-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nevezis dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to BC Rakvere's 26. Nevezis had a 32-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by BC Rakvere's players. Guard Mindaugas Girdziunas (188-89) fired 10 points and 8 assists for the winners. Guard Andrius Aleksandrovas (197-86) chipped in 16 points. Nevezis' coach Darius Sirtautas used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. point guard Reimo Tamm (185-84) produced 13 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Brandis Raley-Ross (188-87, college: S.Carolina) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Nevezis maintains fifth place with 4-6 record. BC Rakvere at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. They share it with Juventus. Nevezis will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. BC Rakvere will play on the road against the league's leader Rudupis in Prienai and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
