Regular Season Round 20: Perlas-MRU - Mazeikiai 74-90

NKL top team - Mazeikiai (16-4) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they beat twelfth ranked Perlas-MRU (9-11) in Vilnius 90-74. The game was mostly controlled by Mazeikiai. Perlas-MRU managed to win second period 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mazeikiai forced 24 Perlas-MRU turnovers. Strangely Perlas-MRU outrebounded Mazeikiai 37-20 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Perlas-MRU's players. Forward Osvaldas Macernis (196-82) orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points and 4 assists. Rokas Giedraitis (198-92) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Four Mazeikiai players scored in double figures. Forward Antanas Udras (202-92) replied with 13 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Mantas Virbalas (203-88) added 8 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Perlas-MRU. Mazeikiai have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-4 record. Perlas-MRU at the other side dropped to the eleventh place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Delikatesas. Mazeikiai are looking forward to face Olimpas (#3) in Plunge in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Perlas-MRU will play on the road against Meresta (#9) in Pakruojis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
