Regular Season Round 9: Samedicino - STU Tbilisi 85-77

Samedicino-Academia has finally registered their first victory this season after seven consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat STU (0-8) 85-77 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-77. Samedicino-Academia dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to STU's 28. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was center Giorgi Revazashvili (208-91) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 15 rebounds. Center Giorgi Periashvili (210-91) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Zurab Korkotadze (194-83) who recorded 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Giorgi Pirvelashvili (201-88) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively. Four STU players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Samedicino-Academia (1-7) left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with Sokhumi. It was STU's eighth loss in a row. They still closes the standings with eight games lost. Samedicino-Academia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Sokhumi.
