Regular Season Round 16: Svitavy - USK Praha 97-81

An interesting game took place in Svitavy where 8th ranked USK Praha (6-10) was upset on the court of eleventh ranked Basketbal Svitavy (5-11) 97-81. It looked good early as USK Praha took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Basketbal Svitavy had a 23-16 second period charge getting the lead and USK Praha was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-97. They outrebounded USK Praha 50-35 including 38 on the defensive glass. USK Praha was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by Polish center Pawel Mroz (215-84) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 28 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks and American point guard Michael Deloach (183-86, college: Norfolk St.) supported him with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Even 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists by point guard Michal Sotnar (189-92) did not help to save the game for USK Praha. Forward Jiri Slavik (203-89) added 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. USK Praha's coach Ken Scalabroni rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Basketbal Svitavy maintains eleventh position with 5-11 record. USK Praha lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with ten games lost. Basketbal Svitavy will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. USK Praha will play on the road against BK Lions Hradec (#12) in J.Hradec and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
