Regular Season Round 12: Geneve Lions - SAV Vacallo 82-83

The most exciting game of round 12 in the LNA took place in Geneve. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of second-best Geneve Lions (9-3) to fourth ranked SAV Vacallo (9-3) 83-82 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Geneve Lions. Geneve Lions were trailing by 11 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 21-15 charge of SAV Vacallo, which allowed them to win the game. They made 27-of-29 free shots (93.1 percent) during the game, while Geneve Lions only scored nine points from the stripe. 25 personal fouls committed by Geneve Lions helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Rickey Gibson (191-84, college: Stillman) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Serbian forward Ivan Kuburovic (203-81) who added 23 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Tony Brown (193-79, college: Arkansas St.) with 21 points and 4 assists and his fellow American import power forward Juwann James (198-87, college: JMU, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Five Geneve Lions players scored in double figures. Geneve Lions' coach Ivan Rudez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. SAV Vacallo moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Geneve Lions. SAV Vacallo is looking forward to face Boncourt (#6) at home in the next round. Geneve Lions will play against Monthey (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
