Not a big story in a game in Timisoara where 13th ranked Timba Timosoara (4-10) was outplayed by fourth ranked Ploiesti (10-3) 102-69. The game without a history. Ploiesti led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 63.6 percentage. The former international power forward Virgil Stanescu (208-77, college: S.Alabama, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds. Latvian forward Ivars Timermanis (203-82) contributed with 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Ploiesti players scored in double figures. Canadian point guard Alex Johnson (178-88, college: N.Carolina St., agency: I.D.S. Law) replied with 17 points and 5 assists and forward Petru Czmor (202-79) added 17 points and 4 assists in the effort for Timba Timosoara. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ploiesti have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Timisoara. Newly promoted Timba Timosoara keeps the thirteenth position with ten games lost. Ploiesti will play against Giurgiu (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Timba Timosoara will play against Gaz Metan in Medias and hopes to get back on the winning track.
