Regular Season Round 14: Giurgiu - Timisoara 68-79

Very expected game when 12th ranked Giurgiu (5-9) was defeated at home by third ranked Timisoara (10-3) 79-68. The game was mostly controlled by Timisoara. Giurgiu was better in third quarter 19-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Timisoara especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.3 percentage. Serbian-German forward Robert Sarovic (205-78) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 6 rebounds. Serbian swingman Marko Derasimovic (200-84, agency: BeoExcell) contributed with 22 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners. American guard Brian Burrell (192-84, college: UTPA, agency: TSS Management) replied with 18 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Perry Petty (185-88, college: UTPA) added 16 points in the effort for Giurgiu. Timisoara have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Ploiesti. Giurgiu lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with nine games lost. Timisoara will play against Farul Const. (#15) in Constanca in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Giurgiu will play on the road against the league's second-placed Ploiesti and hopes to get back on the winning track.
