Rather expected game when 8th ranked Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary (6-10) was smashed on the road by sixth ranked VSE Praha (9-7) 85-44 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by VSE Praha. Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary managed to win fourth quarter 19-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. VSE Praha dominated on the defensive end, holding Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary to just 3 points in first quarter and to 13 points in first half. VSE Praha dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary's 24. VSE Praha forced 24 Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary turnovers and outrebounded them 51-26 including a 23-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by American forward Baendu Lowenthal (183-88, college: Fairfield) who scored that evening 19 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Denisa Harapesova (168-90) supported her with 20 points (made all of her nine free throws !!!). Four VSE Praha players scored in double figures. Even 13 points by Irish guard Orla O'Reilly (182-90, college: Binghamton) did not help to save the game for Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary. American guard Lauren Bell (172-90, college: Pepperdine) added 12 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. VSE Praha moved-up to fifth place. Loser Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. VSE Praha will meet Aldast Strakonice (#10) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Lokomotiva Karlovy Vary will play against Kara Trutnov and hope to secure a win.
