Regular Season Round 14: London L. - Windsor Exp. 104-85

Date: December 20, 2012
The Windsor Express had their three-game winning streak snapped against the National Basketball League of Canada's top-ranked team Thursday night. Chris Commons recorded a double-double with a game-high 24 points to go with 10 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Express lost 104-85 to the No. 1-ranked London Lightning at the Budweiser Gardens. "They're a very good basketball team and to be the best, you have to beat the best," Express coach Bill Jones said. "We played 34 and a half minutes of good basketball. They controlled the game after that and didn't let us back into it." Lester Prosper, a six-foot-10 centre, netted 16 points and six rebounds. Kevin Loiselle added 14 points and seven rebounds and Mike Helms chipped in with 11 points for the Express, whose three-game winning streak was halted. The Lightning were able to contain Express point guard Darren Duncan, who was limited to just five points with five assists. "Darren has been really good for us the last four games," Jones said. "What they did was take the ball out of his hands. I believe he'll be ready when we play again Friday." The Express were hanging around against the Lightning and only trailed by three points in the third quarter. But London started pulling away in the fourth, taking a commanding 90-70 lead with six minutes remaining in the game. Windsor will host the second game of the 401 rivalry tonight when they take on the Lightning at the WFCU Centre at 7 p.m. "I'm expecting the same kind of game," Jones added. "We need to buckle down and limit our turnovers." Courtesy of: canada.com
