Regular Season Round 52: Golden St.W. - Charlotte B. 115-100

Date: December 21, 2012
Calif. Former Davidson star Stephen Curry made a career-high eight 3-pointers and David Lee added a triple-double to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 115-100 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats. It was the Bobcats’ 14th straight loss, dropping them to 7-19. The Warriors improved to 18-9. Curry made 8-of-13 from beyond the arc, finishing with 27 points. Lee left the game with 23 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. The Bobcats got 23 points from shooting guard Gerald Henderson. The Warriors extended their lead to 18 in the third quarter before entering the fourth quarter ahead 89-76. The 3-point line – a liability for the Bobcats all season – was the sticking point: Golden State made seven of eleven 3-point attempts during the third quarter. The Bobcats stayed in the game in the third mostly through backup point guard Ramon Sessions, who scored 12 points after going scoreless in the first half. The Bobcats entered this game allowing opponents to shoot just over 37 percent from 3-point range. Through three quarters, the Warriors made 11 of 22 from the arc. The Bobcats trailed 58-49 at halftime, and much of that could be attributed to bad defense throughout the first quarter. The Bobcats gave up 31 points on 55 percent shooting in the first quarter to spot the Warriors an eight-point lead. Coach Mike Dunlap said before the game that he had told his players to stay attached to Warriors stars Curry and Lee at all cost. If that message was received, it didn’t have much effect: Curry and Lee combined for 18 first-quarter points on 7-of-11 shooting. Curry, the son of Bobcats TV analyst Dell Curry, made his first three 3-pointers. It was quite a one-on-one battle throughout the first half between him and Bobcats counterpart Kemba Walker. Walker finished the half with 16 points, but didn’t score after halftime. Curry, who made five of his seven 3s before halftime, scored 15. Lee, both initiating offense and hitting the boards (he had five offensive rebounds), finished the half with 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting. The Bobcats got another strong half from Henderson, who generated 16 points on 6-of-14 shooting, getting to the foul line five times. The Bobcats complete their four-game Western Conference trip Saturday night against the Denver Nuggets at the Pepsi Center. Courtesy of: charlotteobserver.com
