Regular Season Round 17: Springfield A. - Erie Bay H. 119-127

Date: December 21, 2012
Toko Shengelia and Tyshawn Taylor didn't get the win in their Armor debut but they turned heads in Springfield Friday. Shengelia finished with a triple double and came within two steals and two blocks of a 5x5 while Taylor scored 32 points in a new role as shooting guard. Despite the Nets' production, the Erie Bayhawks beat Springfield, 127-119, at the MassMutual Center. Shengelia, 21, filled the stat sheet with 22 points, 10 rebounds, 12 assists, three blocks and three steals. Taylor, 22, scored 32 points on 13-of-28 shooting, to go along with four assists and two steals. The two shot poorly from the arc, hitting a combined 3-for-10. James Mays, the D-League's leading rebounder, grabbed 14 boards to go with 16 points. Ben Uzoh, the former Net, played point and finished with 14 and four assists. The Bayhawks, the Knicks D-League affiliate, had four players with 20 or more points, led by D.J. Kennedy, the former St. John 's star, who finished with 29 points and 11 assists. The Armor who had been down by more than 20 trimmed the Bayhawks lead to five twice late in the fourth. The Armor is now 3-5. They play again Saturday night when they host the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. “I think it went all right,” Taylor said. “We lost, but I’m just glad to be back on the court and running. I’ve always been a believer in experience. It’s hard for me to go out there and just watch and know what to do.” Courtesy of: netsdaily.com
