Regular Season Round 13: Monthey - Geneve Lions 85-73

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Geneve Lions (9-4) against fourth ranked Monthey (9-4) on Saturday night. Visiting Geneve Lions were defeated by Monthey in Monthey 85-73. The game was mostly controlled by Monthey. Geneve Lions was better in third quarter 22-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 26-of-28 charity shots (92.9 percent) during the game. International Jonathan Dubas (202-91) stepped up and scored 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and Serbian-Bosnian guard Feliks Kojadinovic (197-79) chipped in 11 points and 7 assists. Four Monthey players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Tony Brown (193-79, college: Arkansas St.) responded with 21 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and the other American import guard Kelvin Parker (183-82, college: NW Missouri St.) scored 15 points and 4 assists. Geneve Lions' coach Ivan Rudez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Monthey moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Geneve Lions. Monthey will play against Starwings (#8) in Basel in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Geneve Lions will play at home against the league's leader Fribourg (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
