Regular Season Round 18: Ternopil - Khartsyzsk 65-105

Bottom-ranked Ternopil-TNEU is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 13th consecutive match to second ranked Khartsyzsk (13-2) 105-65. The game was mostly controlled by Khartsyzsk. Ternopil-TNEU was better in fourth quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Khartsyzsk dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Ternopil-TNEU's 24. Khartsyzsk forced 21 Ternopil-TNEU turnovers and outrebounded them 34-21 including 22 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Center Vladimir Orlenko (214-85) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and center Sergei Sabutskyy (208-86, agency: TSS Management) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Khartsyzsk players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Anton Nifonton (190-89) with 24 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and center Sergyi Teleshko (209-92) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Khartsyzsk maintains second position with 13-2 record having five points less than leader Musson. Ternopil-TNEU at the other side still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Khartsyzsk will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ternopil-TNEU will play again at home against the league's second-placed Khartsyzsk (#2) in Donetsk and hopes to get finally their first victory.
