Regular Season Round 18: Austin T. - Sioux Falls S. 106-117

Date: December 22, 2012
The Toros dropped their second game in as many nights Saturday 117-106, thanks to a third quarter scoring flurry from Sioux Falls. Austin has dropped three of their four meetings with the Skyforce. Justin Dentmon had 28 points in the loss for the Toros. “I just give all the credit to my teammates for getting me open and fortunately I make shots,” Dentmon said. “All those point don’t mean anything when we don’t win though.” Sioux Falls outscored Austin by 18 points in the third quarter to turn a two-point halftime deficit into a 15-point lead. Former Minnesota Timberwolf Troy Hudson had 9 of his 26 points in the quarter. Sioux Falls came out of halftime with an 8-2 run to get back in the game. The Skyforce would go up by nine when Demetris Nichols hit a three with 2:56 left in the third. Sioux Falls then closed on another 8-2 run to take a 85-70 lead going into the fourth quarter. Austin shot just 3 for 18 on three-point shots. “We hit a slump in the third quarter, we couldn’t make any shots,” Dentmon said. “Our defense was fine but we didn’t make shots.” The Toros jumped on Sioux Falls early. Tre Kelley’s fast break layup gave Austin a 24-14 lead late in the first. The Skyforce then closed the quarter on a 7-2 run to trim the margin to 26-21. With 1:20 left in the first half, Rick Jackson made a layup and was fouled off a full-court pass. His free throw gave the Toros a 47-42 lead. Jackson had 19 points and nine rebounds, all in the first half. Tyler Wilkerson was a force inside for the Toros with 18 points and 15 rebounds and six blocks. Courtesy of: statesman.com
