There was no surprise in Kaunas where 11th ranked LSU-Baltai (2-8) was crushed by leader Zalgiris (5-0) 121-71 on Sunday. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to LSU-Baltai's 46 and made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Zalgiris forced 29 LSU-Baltai turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Zalgiris especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 69.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was international forward Mindaugas Kuzminskas (205-89) who scored 25 points and 6 rebounds. American center Jeff Foote (212-88, college: Cornell) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Mindaugas Stasys (180-86) who recorded 7 points and 9 assists and power forward Sarunas Beniusis (206-93) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Zalgiris. Defending champion moved-up to third place. LSU-Baltai lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with eight games lost. Zalgiris will face Sakalai (#10) in Vilnius in the next round and are hoping to win another game. LSU-Baltai will play at home against Nevezis in Kedainiai.
