No shocking result in a game when second ranked Levski Sofia (8-2) beat at home 7th ranked Beroe (3-6) 96-89 on Sunday. Beroe was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Levski Sofia forced 20 Beroe turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Serbian point guard Marko Marinovic (183-83) notched 27 points and 5 assists to lead the effort and international forward Dimitar Dimitrov (202-93, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Levski Sofia players scored in double figures. Even 41 points (!!!) by American guard Reginald Holmes (193-87, college: Morgan St.) did not help to save the game for Beroe. His fellow American import guard Will Walker (183, college: De Paul) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Levski Sofia have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 8-2 record behind leader Lukoil Academik. Newly promoted Beroe keeps the seventh place with six games lost. They share the position with Chernomorets. Levski Sofia will meet Balkan (#4) in the next round. Beroe will play against Euroins Cherno More in Varna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
