Regular Season Round 63: Miami Heat - Dallas M. 119-109 OT
Date: January 2, 2013
Dirk Nowitzki hit a jumper to send the game to overtime, but the Miami Heat dominated the extra period to grab a 119-109 victory at home on Wednesday night. LeBron James nearly notched a triple-double and the Miami Heat avoided their third loss in four games by defeating the Dallas Mavericks, 119-109, in overtime on Wednesday night at AmericanAirlines Arena. Dirk Nowitzki sent the game to overtime on a jumper with 3.9 seconds left after Shane Battier knocked down a three-pointer seconds earlier to put Miami (22-8) up, 103-101. Dallas (13-20) had led 100-94 with 3:36 remaining, but scored just one point between then and Nowitzki's game-tying jumper. Dallas opened the game strong, jumping out to a 30-22 lead after the first quarter and pushing that out to double digits several times in the second quarter. Miami stormed back late in the half, trimming their deficit to 52-50 at the break. The Heat appeared to take control of the game in the third quarter, but the Mavericks fought back to set up the frantic final few minutes. James finished with a game-high 32 points on 11-of-20 shooting and 9-of-11 from the line. He also pulled down 12 rebounds and narrowly missed the triple-double with nine assists. Dwyane Wade added 27 points and 10 rebounds, while Chris Bosh had 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Ray Allen had 15 points and seven rebounds off the bench. O.J. Mayo scored 30 points on 12-of-21 shooting in the loss. Nowitzki had 19 points and six rebounds off the bench as he continues to get acclimated to game action after returning from injury.
