Regular Season Round 65: Oklah.City T. - Philadelph.76 109-85
Date: January 4, 2013
“The don’t lose two in a row.” Those were the words of 76ers guard Royal Ivey before his team played the Oklahoma City Thunder Friday, the team that he played for the past two seasons. Wednesday, the Thunder lost at home to the Brooklyn Nets by 16 points and watched in surprise as All-Star Kevin Durant got ejected from the game. Ivey knew how his former running mates would react following Wednesday’s setback, and they proved him right as the Thunder methodically buried the Sixers, 109-85, to improve their NBA-best record to 25-7. The Thunder pulled away in the third quarter when they outscored the Sixers by 32-24, while shooting 11-for-13, and upped their lead to 78-66 and they continuously built on that in the final 12 minutes of the contest. Oklahoma City shot 23-for-36 in the second half from the floor. Russell Westbrook scored 27 and Kevin Durant 26 for the Thunder, while Serge Ibaka totaled 15 points and 10 rebounds. Kevin Martin came off the bench to contribute 16. Nick Young, who was the only Sixer to go to the foul line, led the team with 21 points, while Jrue Holiday finished with 15 and 9 assists. Dorell Wright chipped in 11 and Thaddues Young added 10 while Spencer Hawes had 13 rebounds. The Sixers are now 2-5 on this road trip and 15-19 overall. They again were hurt by turnovers (20) and their inability to get to the foul line as Oklahoma City had a 21-6 scoring advantage from the line. Courtesy of: philly.com
