Regular Season Round 24: Olimpas - Triobet 80-77

The most exciting game of round 24 in the NKL took place in Plunge. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Triobet (15-9) to third ranked Olimpas (17-7) 80-77 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Triobet. Triobet trailed by 20 points at halftime and as many as 21 after three quarters before a 36-18 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 77-80 at the end of the game. Strangely Triobet outrebounded Olimpas 41-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. It was a good game for forward Audrius Maneikis (203-84, college: Motlow St. CC) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Ignas Razutis (185-87) contributed with 12 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Olimpas players scored in double figures. Forward Martynas Linkevicius (197-85) replied with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds and Paulius Vaitiekunas (205-92) added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Triobet. Olimpas have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Dzukija. Triobet at the other side dropped to the fourth position with nine games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Olimpas is looking forward to face Perlas-MRU (#12) in Vilnius in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Triobet will play at home against Statyba (#5) in Vilnius and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
