There was no surprise when 7th ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (9-6) lost to leader Flamengo (13-0) in Rio de Janeiro 75-83 on Monday. Sao Jose/Vinac was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Flamengo made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Flamengo made 8 blocks. It was a good game for the former international forward Olivinha Rodriguez (202-83) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. The former international forward Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) contributed with 17 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Flamengo players scored in double figures.
