The game was mostly controlled by Shenyang Golden Lions. Shanghai Octopus managed to win second period 19-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Shenyang Golden Lions dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Shanghai Octopus' 44. They outrebounded Shanghai Octopus 39-19 including 24 on the defensive glass. International forward LiJie Miao (178-81) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners and the former international center Dan Liu (194-87) chipped in 25 points and 13 rebounds. At the losing side American swingman Camille Little (188-85, college: N.Carolina) responded with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Xiufeng Shi (178-87) scored 23 points. Four Shanghai Octopus players scored in double figures.
