The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Thor Thorl as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Thor Thorl defeated 11th ranked IR in Thorlakshofn 87-70. The game was mostly controlled by Thor Thorl. IR managed to win third quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game. 30 personal fouls committed by IR helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Benjamin Smith (178-87, college: Jacksonville) stepped up and scored 26 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his twelve free throws !!!) for the winners and forward David Jackson (201-88, college: Penn St.) chipped in 18 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side guard Eric Palm (188-87, college: McKendree) responded with 38 points (!!!) and guard Dandre Williams (177-90, college: UALR) scored 6 points and 6 rebounds. IR's coach Jon Arnar Ingvarsson rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Thor Thorl have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Grindavik. IR lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with ten games lost. They share the position with Tindastoll. IR will play next round against Njardvik trying to get back on the winning streak. Thor Thorl will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Grindavik on the road.
