A very interesting game took place in Eleusina. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 14th ranked Panelefsiniakos (2-11) to eleventh ranked KAOD (5-8) 76-74 on Saturday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Panelefsiniakos won third quarter 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Panelefsiniakos 40-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. KAOD brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. 30 personal fouls committed by Panelefsiniakos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American swingman Kevin Palmer (198-87, college: Texas A&M-CC) nailed a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and guard Thodoris Zaras (197-88) accounted for 25 points. American power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St.) came up with 18 points and point guard Nikos Liakopoulos (189-83, agency: FCM) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively for Panelefsiniakos in the defeat. Four Panelefsiniakos players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. KAOD moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Peristeri GS and Apollon Patras. Panelefsiniakos lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. KAOD's next round opponent will be higher ranked Panionios (#3) in Athens and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Panelefsiniakos will play at home against Peristeri GS (#8) in Athens.
