TORONTO - Jose Calderon had 22 points and nine assists as the Toronto Raptors defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 108-103 on Sunday afternoon. Landry Fields had 18 points and 10 rebounds while Ed Davis scored 18 points with eight rebounds as Toronto (15-26) earned its first win in five games against Los Angeles. The Raptors also snapped a four-game losing streak overall, delighting the Air Canada Centre sellout gathering of 19,800, their fourth this season. The Raptors spoiled Canadian Steve Nash's first visit to Toronto as a Laker. The Raptors courted the Victoria native in the off-season before he ultimately went to Los Angeles in a sign-and-trade deal that netted the Phoenix Suns four draft picks. Nash finished with 16 points and nine assists. Kobe Bryant shot 10-for-32 and had a game-high 26 points for the Lakers (17-23) while Pau Gasol added 25 points. Los Angeles was minus Dwight Howard after the all-star centre received two first-half technical fouls. Consecutive three-pointers from Kyle Lowry helped stake Toronto to a 95-79 advantage early in the fourth before a Nash three-pointer and two from Bryant helped pull the Lakers to within 97-87 with 5:22 remaining. Nash's two free throws pulled Los Angeles to within 107-101 with 17.8 seconds remaining but that's as close as the visitors would come down the stretch. Los Angeles dropped to 5-13 on the road this season but still leads the overall series with Toronto 25-7, including 12-5 at Toronto. Toronto took an 83-70 lead into the fourth, thanks to Field's basket with 14.5 seconds remaining in the third. Fields had 10 points in the quarter for the Raptors while Gasol had 10 points in the frame for the Lakers. Calderon's jumper with 4.3 seconds left staked Toronto to a 53-49 half-time lead but the biggest play of the half came with 1:18 remaining when Howard was ejected after receiving his second technical foul. He and Toronto's Alan Anderson were given double technical fouls after getting tangled up with the Raptors leading 48-44. He left the game with five points, two rebounds and an assist. Nash opened the scoring but then Toronto went on a 9-0 run and later had an 8-0 stretch en route to a 29-20 lead through the first. Calderon anchored the Raptor's attack with eight points and three assists as the home team shot 52.2 per cent from the field (12-of-23). Nash finished with five points for the Lakers, who shot 30.4 per cent (7-of-23) from the field and just 62.5 per cent (5-of-8) from the free-throw line. NOTES: Defenceman P.K. Subban, a restricted free agent with the Montreal Canadiens, took in Sunday's contest. His hockey club dropped a 2-1 decision to Toronto at the Bell Centre on Saturday night in the season opener for both clubs. Subban, 23, is a Toronto native . . . . Gasol started at forward for the Lakers after returning to the lineup as a sub against Miami. Gasol had missed five games recovering from a concussion . . .
