There was no surprise when 8th ranked Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (4-9) was defeated on the road by second ranked Elitzur Ramla (9-5) 88-70 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Elitzur Ramla. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion managed to win third quarter 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Elitzur Ramla dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion's 30 and made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Elitzur Ramla looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion's players. The game was also dominated by American players. It was a great evening for swingman Tamara James (178-84, college: Miami, FL) who led her team to a victory scoring 35 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 4 assists. They share it with Elitzur Netanya. Elitzur Ramla will meet Ramat Hasharon (#4) on the road in the next round. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion will play against Elitzur Netanya (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
