AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- On the night the Orlando Magic reached their season's halfway point, they lost in a way that didn't inspire confidence for the rest of the way. The Detroit Pistons clobbered them 105-90 at the mostly empty Palace of Auburn Hills. Detroit outrebounded Orlando 54 to 41 and generated 13 turnovers that led to 17 points. The Pistons (16-25) started to pull away from the Magic (14-27) in the third quarter by shooting 57 percent from the field. Detroit's Greg Monroe scored 10 of his 16 points in the period. Arron Afflalo began the day as Orlando's leading scorer, averaging 17.5 points per game, but he didn't attempt his first shot until he tried a midrange jumper with 2 minutes, 33 seconds left in the third quarter. He went 0-for-4 and didn't score a point. Glen Davis also struggled. He made only four of his 16 shot attempts and finished with 11 points. J.J. Redick, in his first start since Nov. 19, sank his first seven shots and finished with a game-high 26 points on 9-of-10 shooting. He was perhaps the Magic's only bright spot.
