Halcones Xalapa eased past Abejas to ensure a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven quarterfinal series. The game was mostly controlled by Halcones UV Xalapa. Abejas managed to win third quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Abejas 51-35 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Halcones UV Xalapa looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands) who scored 19 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. International guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (185-86, college: W.Kentucky) chipped in 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Halcones UV Xalapa players scored in double figures. American-Jamaican forward McHugh Mattis (198-84, college: S.Florida) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Eugene Phelps (198, college: Long Beach St.) added 21 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
