Regular Season Round 25: St.John M.R. - Windsor Exp. 135-127

The Saint John Mill Rats presented by Rogers, won their second set of double header action on Friday night at Harbour Station against the Windsor Express with a final score of 135-127 in front of 2,156 fans. The Mill Rats battled hard out of the gate but the Express gained an early lead, after 11 points from Mike Helms in the first, 25-32. The second quarter, the Mill Rats were on fire, dropping 34 points before half. The Express held their lead until just under 6 minutes before half time, when Jerice Crouch dropped a three, giving the Mill Rats a 3 point lead, 43-40. Windsor called a time out to stop Saint John's momentum but it proved unsuccessful. The Mill Rats closed the half leading 59-52 over the Windsor Express, playing a strong quarter, outscoring the Express 34-20. The third quarter proved to be the hottest for the Mill Rats as they were able to gain as much as a double digit lead over Windsor. They outscored the team, 42-32. Leading scorer for Saint John, Anthony Anderson dropped 12 points alone in the third, contributing to the 101-84 lead. The fourth quarter had fans on the edge of their seats as the Windsor Express failed to give up. With 7:38 left in the game, a huge three from Jerice Crouch had the Mill Rats leading 115-88, bt the Express battled back from a 27 point deficit to come within 8 points of the Mill Rats. The Express outscored the Mill Rats in the fourth quarter, 34-43. The Mill Rats were able to hold onto their lead and close a second consecutive home win tonight in front of all their fans during their "Fan Appreciation" night. Prior to the game, the organization hosted the Uptown Saint John VIP Event for season ticket holders and sponsors. A special thank you to Urban Deli and East Coast Bistro for providing the catering. The event was a huge success! Leading the Mill Rats was Anthony Anderson who netted a double double, with 26 points, and 10 assists. Kenny Jones was second in scoring, adding 22 points while Cavell Johnson had 14. Taking the helm for the Express was Mike Helms with 35 points, while former Mill Rat, Darren Duncan added 22 and 20 assists, also having a double double. The Mill Rats rise to 12-15 on the season while the Express drop to 10-15. The team heads to Montreal to take on the Jazz tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 26th.
