Halcones Xalapa eased to the third straight win over Abejas. The game without a history. Halcones UV Xalapa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They were well out of reach of Abejas shooting 71.0 percent from the field. Halcones UV Xalapa had a 27-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 15 long-distance shots on high 62.5 percentage. Halcones UV Xalapa players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was a good game for American guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands) who led his team to a victory with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists (on 13-of-14 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Kevin Sowell (190-81, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 30 points and 4 assists for the winners. Sowell is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Eugene Phelps (198, college: Long Beach St.) answered with 20 points and 7 rebounds and American-Jamaican forward McHugh Mattis (198-84, college: S.Florida) added 19 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Abejas. Five Halcones UV Xalapa and four Abejas players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
