Quarter-Finals Round 4: Abejas - Halc.Xalapa 86-114

Halcones Xalapa became the first LNBP semifinalists after they completed the sweep of Abejas. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 114-86. Halcones UV Xalapa outrebounded Abejas 42-26 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Abejas' players. Worth to mention a quality performance of the former international forward Victor Mariscal (198-72) who helped to win the game recording 32 points and international guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (185-86, college: W.Kentucky) who added 20 points and 10 assists during the contest. Halcones UV Xalapa's coach Angel Gonzalez felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American forward Eugene Phelps (198, college: Long Beach St.) responded with 28 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Steffphon Pettigrew (195-89, college: W.Kentucky) scored 22 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
