Regular Season Round 21: AZS PP - Polonia 56-58

Sixteenth-ranked AZS PP (3-17) used its home court advantage to challenge ninth ranked Polonia (11-10) in Pozoan. The visitors from Przemysl managed to secure only two-point victory 58-56. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But AZS PP won fourth quarter 9-7. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was forward Tomasz Zablocki (202-78, agency: Promotex) who scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Center Dariusz Wyka (207-91) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was center Adam Metelski (208-83, college: Cal-Irvine) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and 17 rebounds and center Marek Sobkowiak (200-86) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively. AZS PP's coach Waldemar Mendel tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Polonia moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted AZS PP stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Polonia's next round opponent will be WIKANA Start (#11) in Lublin which should be theoretically an easy game. AZS PP will play on the road against P.Cukier SIDEn (#9) in Torun.
