On Thursday night the Rainmen won their second straight game, beating the Moncton Miracles 108-103 in front of 1623 fans at the Halifax Metro Centre. With the win the Rainmen moved to 15-15 on the season, and into second place in the NBLC Atlantic Conference. Hillary Haley's back-to-back 3's off the Rainmen bench gave them a 28-17 lead near the end of the first quarter. The Rainmen finished the first quarter leading 29-18, led by 10 points by Brown and 6 by Haley, while the Miracles were led by Darrell Wonge with 7. Back-to-back 3's from Tyrone Levett and Cedric Moodie gave the Rainmen 44-27 lead with 4 minutes to play in the first half. At half the Rainmen led 46-39 thanks to 53% shooting from the field and 44% from 3, as Quinnel Brown led the way with 13, while Tyrone Levett had 8. In the third, the Miracles outscored the Rainmen 32-30, thanks to 15 points by Devin Sweetney in the quarter. The Rainmen held on to a 76-71 lead going into the fourth quarter, led by 16 points from Quinnel Brown, 13 by Melvin Goins and 10 by Hillary Haley. In the fourth quarter the Miracles took their first lead of the game, 79-78 with 9:29 to play. Tyrone Levett's 3 with 5:50 to play made it a 88-82 Rainmen lead. After Quinnel Brown hit a huge 3 to give the Rainmen a 98-94 lead with 44 seconds to play, Melvin Goins hit two free-throws, stole the ball and hit another free-throw to give the Rainmen a 101-94 lead with 31 seconds remaining. Free-throws by Tyler Richards and Cedric Moodie helped the Rainmen seal a 108-103 win. Halifax shot 48% from the field and over 38% from 3 in the victory. The Rainmen were led by Melvin Goins with 22 and 10 rebounds, Quinnel Brown 21, Cedric Moodie 16, Hillary Haley 12, Tyrone Levett 11 and Joey Haywood with 11.
