Regular Season Round 21: Fos Ouest - St Vallier 74-69
Date: February 1, 2013
Very predictable result when ninth ranked Fos Ouest (12-9) beat at home 14th ranked Saint Vallier (7-14) 74-69 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Saint Vallier trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 23-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 69-74 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Saint Vallier 34-22 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was naturalized Algerian swingman Karim Atamna (194-80) who scored 22 points and 4 assists. The former international power forward Sacha Giffa (202-77) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Jonathan Hoyaux (192-88) who recorded 15 points and American Corey Rouse (204-84, college: E.Carolina, agency: Court Side) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Four Saint Vallier players scored in double figures. Fos Ouest moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Bourg. Saint Vallier lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with 14 games lost. Fos Ouest will face Saint-Quentin (#11) on the road in the next round. Saint Vallier will play against SO Maritime Boulogne.
