Regular Season Round 19: Rennes - Souffel 73-75

Very expected game when 15th ranked Union Rennes (4-13) was edged at home by fifth ranked Souffelweyersheim (12-5) 75-73 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Union Rennes was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for guard Jeremy Tschamber (192-84) who helped to win the game recording 21 points. Senegalese power forward Abdoulaye N'Diaye (210-84, college: USC) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Souffelweyersheim players scored in double figures. American forward Alex Okafor (202-87, college: Princeton) answered with 15 points and 6 rebounds and center Said Ben Driss (206-85) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Union Rennes. Union Rennes' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Souffelweyersheim moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Quimper. Union Rennes lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted Union Rennes keeps the fifteenth position with 13 games lost. Souffelweyersheim will have a break next round. Union Rennes will play on the road against Quimper UJAP (#4).
