Regular Season Round 19: Vichy - Challans 71-54

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked JA Vichy as it allowed them to take a leadership position. JA Vichy defeated 13th ranked Vendee Challans at home 71-54. It looked good early as Vendee Challans took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then JA Vichy had a 24-12 second period charge getting the lead and Vendee Challans was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 54-71. JA Vichy dominated on the defensive end, holding Vendee Challans to just 7 points in third quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Vendee Challans' 22. JA Vichy forced 19 Vendee Challans turnovers and outrebounded them 39-24 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for point guard Rida El Amrani (180-86) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. Power forward Gregory Lessort (197-85) helped adding 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four JA Vichy players scored in double figures. JA Vichy's coach Fabien Romeyer allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side forward Fabien Herard (198-79) responded with 10 points and naturalized Ivorian forward Rolic Medenouvo (194-90) scored 7 points. JA Vichy (13-4) have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Vendee Challans lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth place with 12 games lost. Vendee Challans will play next round against Angers BC 49 trying to get back on the winning streak. JA Vichy will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Rueil on the road.
