Halcones Xalapa escaped with a tough home win over Soles in the semifinal series opener. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Soles won third quarter 25-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Halcones UV Xalapa won last quarter 15-14. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Halcones UV Xalapa made 7 blocks. American guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands) fired 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners.
