Regular Season Round 22: Telekom Baskets - Ratiopharm 99-94

The most important game in the last round took place in Bonn between second ranked ratiopharm Ulm (14-7) and eighth ranked Telekom Baskets (11-10) on Saturday night. ratiopharm Ulm was defeated by Telekom Baskets in a tough game on the road 94-99. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of ratiopharm Ulm. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 30-21. But ratiopharm Ulm won second period 26-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Telekom Baskets looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American swingman Robert Vaden (196-85, college: UAB) scored 32 points and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Lithuanian guard Benas Veikalas (192-83, college: Metro St.) chipped in 24 points during the contest. Telekom Baskets' coach Michael Koch used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American center John Bryant (208-87, college: Santa Clara) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Keaton Nankivil (203-89, college: Wisconsin) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Four ratiopharm Ulm players scored in double figures. Telekom Baskets have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place. ratiopharm Ulm at the other side dropped to the third position with seven games lost. Telekom Baskets are looking forward to face EnBW Ludwigsburg (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ratiopharm Ulm will play against Phoenix Hagen (#9) and is hoping to win this game.
