The game between closely ranked teams ended with ninth ranked Hanau's (8-10) home victory over 10th ranked Dresden (6-12) 88-86 on Saturday. Dresden was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Hanau looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Dresden was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Marco Voeller (198-89) who scored 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. American center Jereal Scott (200-89, college: SF Austin) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. Five Hanau players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American Andrew Jones (191-83, college: Miles) who recorded 26 points and his fellow American import guard Jason Boucher (180-80, college: Grand Valley St.) added 17 points and 5 assists respectively. Hanau moved-up to eighth place in Group South, which they share with Leitershofen. Dresden lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with 12 games lost. Hanau will face league's leader Dragons Rhoendorf on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Dresden will play against Bayer Giants (#6) in Leverkusen.
