Regular Season Round 27: Inter Bratislava - Nitra 89-88

The most exciting game of round 27 in the Extraliga took place in Bratislava. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 3rd placed Nitra (15-10) to sixth ranked Inter Bratislava (11-13) 89-88 on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 28-24. But Nitra won second period 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for the former international power forward Martin Rancik (204-78, college: Iowa St.) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds. Serbian point guard Nenad Milosevic (190-83) contributed with 17 points and 7 assists for the winners. Bahamas guard J.R. Cadot (195-87, college: TCU) answered with 17 points and 9 rebounds and the former international center Branislav Tomek (205-83) added 20 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Nitra. Four Nitra players scored in double figures. Inter Bratislava maintains sixth place with 11-13 record. Nitra at the other side keeps the third position with ten games lost. Inter Bratislava are looking forward to face league's second-placed Levice on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nitra will play against Handlova and is hoping to win this game.
