Regular Season Round 21: Rueil - Challans 80-66

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Vendee Challans (6-13) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Rueil (10-9) 80-66. The game was mostly controlled by Rueil. Vendee Challans was better in third quarter 19-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Vendee Challans to just 7 points in second quarter. Rueil made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Rueil especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Forward Karim Gourari (201-89) nailed 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side and Alexis Desespringalle (192-91) accounted for 18 points and 4 assists. Four Rueil players scored in double figures. Forward Fabien Herard (198-79) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and guard Johan Rathieuville (177-85) added 12 points and 5 assists respectively for Vendee Challans in the defeat. Rueil moved-up to eighth place. Vendee Challans at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with 13 games lost. Rueil's next round opponent will be higher ranked Cognac (#5) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
